Several years ago I asked my 10 year old nephew, “Is it possible to love someone too much?”.  His answer back has stayed with me all these years.  He said “You can never love someone too much”.  Because of what that sweet, 10 year old boy said to me several years ago, is the reason I use any chance I can to tell him ‘I love you’.   And the best part is that he says it to me too.  Children learn from those who are closest to them  – make the lessons they learn from you loving and encouraging.  You will receive the same loving feeling in return.  He was right, you can never love someone too much.     

If only that same amount of effort  is put into the time spent showing a child how much he or she is loved.  The pleasure that one gets from seeing a child’s face light up knowing that they are loved and appreciated is better than anything else on earth including a gourmet meal. 

They may be small but, children’s feelings are as big and heartfelt as adults.  Take the time to show your child that you understand how they feel and say ‘I love you’ – It will make them and you feel good.

Each day of a child’s life is so precious and fleeting.  Find any excuse to say ‘I love you’ – make each event memorable and everyday an event to remember for generations to come. 

A simple “I love you” is all it takes to make your child feel loved and special, but this Valentine’s Day go the extra mile and put it down on paper by writing him/her a letter. Make sure your letter outlines the many reasons why you love your child so he/she feels appreciated and cared for. Including your child as a “loved one” on Valentine’s Day makes this traditionally romantic Hallmark holiday into a celebration of love for every special person in your life. Nothing says I love you like a hug and a kiss goodnight. Before you tuck your child into bed tonight, give them a good, hearty hug and a kiss on the cheek or forehead (or both!). It’s a tender way to say “I love you” and a sweet way to celebrate the holidays.
